| Description: | Vital Energi has grown from what was a Community Heating company in the 1980's to become a provider of complete turnkey energy solutions. The company has successfully exploited proven technologies and know-how from the Scandinavian market and imported them effectively in the UK marketplace. Strategic partnerships with some of Denmark's most experienced energy consultants, and utilising the skills of their own in-house Danish engineers have put Vital Energi at the forefront of this sector, and Vital Energi is set to embark on a major expansion programme over the coming years, thanks to winning new contracts worth a total of almost £20 million.
The Company's expertise and the growing demand for greater use of renewables and energy efficiency enabled it to increase turnover from £4 million to £11 million within its first five years. A turnover of £16 million is forecast for 2006/7, but if current bids are successful, we predict that we will double that figure.
Vital Energi is uniquely placed within the emerging 'New Energy' market in the UK to offer flexible, energy efficient solutions. As both private sector developers and public sector organisations are put under increasing pressure to provide energy more efficiently, make best use of renewables and reduce C02 emissions, we are leading the way in the UK in offering a complete turnkey approach.
With an impressive track record of 60% repeat business, it is Vital Energi's solution-driven approach and status as a niche player that has helped the company to win new contracts for clients across the country, and the new contracts we have won demonstrate the diversity of energy projects for which we can provide a turnkey approach and the additional revenues will feed in to our expansion plans so that we can continue to remain ahead of the field in this growing sector.
Vital Energi is involved in a £12 million project for the design, financing through the Co-operative Bank, supply, installation and commissioning of a combined heat and power (CHP) system that will serve both the Natural History Museum and the Victoria & Albert Museums. The scheme will bring both financial and environmental benefits to the museums, delivering cash savings in excess of £200,000 per year and reducing total annual C02 emissions by 1,800 tonnes. Vital Energi will be responsible for operation and maintenance of the new energy centre for the next fifteen years following installation.
Finally, the company was commissioned to complete a £3.3 million project for BAA resulting in savings of more than £500,000 per year and reductions in carbon emissions of 10,800 tonnes annually. The work involves installation of a three kilometre pipe network to distribute waste heat from the existing CHP plant within the World Cargo Energy Centre at Heathrow to provide heat and hot water for the new T5 Terminal, due to open in March 2008. The project will eventually supply 80% of T5's heating requirements and the financial savings from this environmentally sound energy solution will pay back capital investment in just four years.
With concerns about sustainable fuel resources and climate change now driving Government policy and public debate on energy issues, Vital Energi's experience in both energy efficiency and renewables makes the company well placed to capitalise on a niche expertise for which there is an increasingly mainstream requirement. A key element of its expansion strategy is the new build housing sector, where developers of multi-dwelling properties are being challenged to incorporate energy efficiency and the use of renewables in order to gain planning permission. Vital Energi is currently exploring opportunities to establish Energy Services Companies (ESCo's) to finance, design, supply, install, commission, operate and maintain community heating and CHP systems on residential developments on a long term basis. |
