Our client provides services to protect the natural landscapes, biodiversity and heritage across Wales. As part of on-going research, they are now looking to recruit a GIS and Spacial Evidence Officer to join their existing team.
Your responsibilities would include
Capture, collate, analyse, manipulate and transform geographic data sets.
Undertake GIS database development work and GIS intergration
Develop and intergrate RDBMS
Develop and intergrate web mapping solutions using GIS data
Check GIS data against recognised GIS standard
Help to test new GIS software.
Undertake GIS application development work using appropriate programming languages
Design, test, and implement GIS data processing using a variety of software
Carry out other general duties as necessary.
To be considered applications should demonstrate the following skills and experience
An in-depth knowledge of desktop GIS software.
An understanding and use of Oracle spatial
Development and use of Web Mapping solutions
An understanding of GIS data management and manipulation of data through appropriate software.
The ability to use standard desktop office software, eg MS Office.
Good interpersonal, customer support and team working skills.
The ability to currently and legally drive a car in the UK.
Applicants with knowledge and experience of Open Source software would be highly desirable.
This is a contract position until September 2012. Working hours are 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday however applicants for part time hours will be considered.
