Matalan are currently looking for an experienced Retail Deputy Manager to join their team in Sutton. As a Retail Deputy Manager, you will contribute to the continual development of the store and will have a range of operational and customer service responsibilities which will involve developing both the management teams and colleagues in line with available resources.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Responsible for the recruitment of high calibre colleagues in line with the store requirements and the completion and maintenance of the Branch Master Schedule in line with Company guidelines.
- Effectively manage all employee HR issues in a timely manner in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Use all resources to ensure company stockroom standards are delivered and maintained at all times and that appropriate stock management controls are in place in line with company guidelines to deliver door to floor on a daily basis
- Ensure full compliance of company availability/replenishment process on a daily basis, in particular 1 pick process and all out of hours replenishment routines
- Effectively duty manage the store including compliance to opening and closing procedures and demonstrate role model behaviour in protecting the customer journey by prioritising the deployment of staffing at all times
- Ensure customers receive outstanding value by role modeling and creating a world class shopping environment by interacting with and valuing customers
- Support the active promotion of Matalan loyalty card and capturing of customer details including email accounts in order to maintain an accurate registration system and the expansion of customer database
- Support the implementation of VM updates and phase layouts as per guidelines and timescales and assist in the implementation of all promotions and initiatives to achieve 100% adherence to company guidelines daily
- Support the Store Manager in conducting store Shop Keeping Walks and capturing VM actions on a daily basis
- Comply with Profit Protection, Health & Safety and Fire procedures in order to provide a safe working environment
- Effectively manage the Admin function by assisting in the identification of potential stock and cash loss and develop specific Profit Protection actions to effectively reduce stock loss. Conduct regular self audits to ensure continuous improvement.
Experience Required:
Our Retail Deputy Managers come from a range of retail backgrounds meaning we welcome applications from all candidates with at least 2 years retail management experience with a high volume, fast paced retailer. Successful candidates will have a proven record of delivering results through coaching and using their leadership skills. Experience in the fashion retail sector is preferred but not essential.
Communication is key to the success of our business; our Retail Deputy Managers are fantastic communicators who are able to converse with staff at all levels. Not only are they passionate about developing themselves and their teams, they also have an unrivaled knowledge of the retail sector.
