FUNCTION DESCRIPTION
The Accounting Services team works alongside the NAV Validation team and is responsible for local client support for non-core NAV production activities including in specie transactions, performance valuations and fund change requests
ROLE DESCRIPTION 
The Manager is an integral member of the Fund Accounting team who will be primarily responsible for managing the successful and timely production of non-daily client deliverables and will act as an escalation point and interact at a managerial level across the organisation. The Manager will identify areas of risk within the relevant areas of production and work across departmental lines to manage these risks. The Manager will utilise accounting, investment, and general business knowledge to make informed decisions thereby reducing the exposure to risk whilst adhering to the strict reporting deadlines. Additionally, the Manager will act as a principal point of escalation for the client concerning issues impacting timeliness and accuracy of the team's deliverables. The team also manages portfolio validation services in support of the NAV validation process.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Operational 
  • The ideal candidate should be competent in all aspects of NAV production and supplementary processes, such as in specie, performance valuation, and product change
  • Ensure that production is appropriately planned and resourcing issues are addressed and / or escalated
  • Prepare, manage and review internal and external MIS acting where issues are identified
  • Coordinate the review of all standard operating procedures
  • Coordinate completion of business error documentation
  • Identify, delegate and manage all projects within the group and work on projects delegated by the Senior Manager
  • Act as subject matter expert in compilation of related training course materials.
Control / Risk
  • Escalate and resolve issues with Senior Manager in a timely manner
  • Comprehensively understand all risk and control procedural documentation
  • Resolve procedural weaknesses and enhancements to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the group
  • Overall supervision and support of the production group and the control environment
Client / Service delivery
  • Pro-actively manage all client enquiries and requests from outside parties e.g. auditors, Trustees, in a professional manner
  • Take lead in communicating product initiatives and regulatory changes to the client.
  • Monitor performance against guidelines set out in PSD's
  • Coordinate and manage Client changes and requests, such as new product launches, service and control visits, in specie events, transition management
  • Establish effective working relationships with key client contacts.
Staff
  • Ensure all identified training needs are met
  • Complete performance reviews
  • Organise and set agendas for regular team meetings
  • Work with the Manager to foster a positive working environment.
  • Participation in the recruitment process

 Areas of Technical Knowledge / Relevant Experience 
  • Demonstrable depth and breadth of expertise in a Fund Accounting operations environment essential
  • Of degree calibre. CA/ACCA/ACMA preferred
  • Must have or be willing to work towards obtaining the IAQ Merit award (or be grandfathered under the T&C scheme)

  • Market vendors system knowledge (Bloomberg, Reuters, etc) preferable but not essential
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications
