Airport IT Systems Applications Engineer
Epsom, Surrey
Salary c £30K - £36K + Package
Our clients are a systems engineering consultancy and currently looking for an engineer to support the Systems Assurance function within airport/airport baggage systems.
The role requires a mix of systems and projects expertise which will be further enhanced by practical experience both directly on client sites as well as within our nearby office locations.
Responsibilities include:
- Contributing to the successful completion and ongoing development of airport systems for baggage and other airport related projects. This will include involvement in all of the project life-cycle elements, including definition of requirements, monitoring and review of development and design activities, witness testing and ensuring adequate test coverage and providing integration support.
- Defining systems assurance requirements specifications for projects appropriate to the baggage operational and development risks.
- Reviewing Operational requirements documents for applicability to projects and project briefs and ensuring that they comply with best practice
- Performing supplier reviews
- Performing system product and process assurance as determined by the systems assurance requirements specification and risk reviews.
Essential Requirements
- Competent user of Microsoft Operating Systems and common Microsoft Office Applications (Office, Project, Visio).
- An understanding/familiarity with airport systems, with a focus on baggage systems including low level controls.
- Knowledge of best practice principles for software systems engineering
- A background in software/systems development with extensive experience of working on software/systems projects
Other useful skills experience would include:
- Qualifications ideally ONC/HNC/OND/HND or higher with a computing/software/controls bias.
- Familiarity with the use of the DOORS requirements management tool and document control systems such as A-Site or Documentum.
Additionally, this position will require you to use a company vehicle on occasions, as a result you must hold a full drivers licence with up to a maximum of 6 penalty points.
This position may require visits away from the home office for short periods of time.
