Application Support Developer - Oracle, SQL Server, SQL, Crystal Reports, Business Objects, C#. ASP.Net - Dorset - £30K to £35K.
My client is a large financial services company based in the centre of Poole, Dorset. They are currently looking to recruit an Application Support Developer, to join their small dynamic team.
The Application Support Developer will come from a financial services background and ideally have experience in SQL, Oracle, SQL Server 2000+ and some C# and ASP.Net experience.
Key Responsibilities
1.Responsible for the application support of all software systems, including identification, analysis and resolution of defects.
2.Responsible for interacting with external software vendors and suppliers for the purposes of issue identification and resolution.
3.Responsible for tactical application development and data analysis as required by the business.
4.Responsible for testing and applying fixes supplied by third party software vendors.
5.Responsible for carrying out testing on developed applications, including the writing of test plans and the documentation of test results.
Skills Required
1.Excellent knowledge of relational database systems, including the writing of SQL. Good Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server 2000+ skills would be highly beneficial.
2.Good knowledge of Crystal Reports and/or Business Objects.
3.Experience of Microsoft .NET technologies, including C# and ASP.NET would be advantageous.
4.A positive 'can do' attitude and strong interpersonal communication skills.
5.Adaptive to change in a commercial environment where the needs of the business dictate project priorities.
6.A willingness to learn and develop as technologies change and the needs of the business evolve.
7.Excellent analytical skills and an eye for detail.
Experience and Knowledge:
2+ years experience of software development in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment
Experience of working in a support orientated role where issue resolution and business continuity are key priorities.
Experience of dealing with external software vendors and suppliers would be highly beneficial
Knowledge of call centre and internet sales channels would be useful
Insurance sector knowledge would be an advantage but not essential.
