Minimum Requirements : The URS Asset Management (Scotland) team has an opportunity for a Curator to join the team in our Faslane office.
Minimum requirements:
-An appropriate qualification in Library or Records Management
-Familiarisation with AACR2 (Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules), MARC or Dublin Core, and LCSH (Library of Congress Subject Headings).
-An abilty to work autonomously and to demonstrate a strong organisational capability.
Candidates will be subject to UK National Security Vetting due to MOD requirements so should have a minimum of three years UK residency, but preferably five years.
This post is a Full Time permanent position and is based at Faslane, near Helensburgh. Job Description : The main purpose of the role is to make the right information available to the right person at the right time in order to promote the delivery of effective estate services in support of customer operational output. The curator is responsible for collecting, organising and managing documentation in Area West Library (at Faslane), and several site collections in Area West. The position assists the Area West Professional Advisor and the Technical Librarian in providing a Technical Library Service to the Regional Prime Contract (Scotland) Team.
Key Tasks/Roles and Responsibilities:
-Provide a reference & enquiry service * Maintain Information Request Record * Circulate periodicals.
-Catalogue and organise library resources: * Use the Cataloguing Standards for RPC(S) library as detailed in the Technical Library manual, to catalogue documentation produced for RPC(Scotland) and its predecessors (such as statutory tasks, handover manuals, drawings & specialist technical reports) in paper, electronic and microfiche formats. * Use in-house classification system to assign call numbers * Stamp, label & shelve documents * Upload, catalogue and hyperlink electronic documents
-Manage Area West Library and E.Library in accordance with Technical Library Manual * Capture statistics daily * Maintain issue and return record * Shelfing of returned items * Monitor and manage E.Library West
-Manage Site Collections in Area West * Catalogue Site collections * Conduct four-monthly Site Collection Checks
-Provide user training to Area and Site staff as required * Use existing power point presentation to explain use of the Unicorn LMS to users * Conduct post training survey (by email or telephone)
-Evaluation * Action the outcome of Library Procedural Reviews for each Area West collection
-Attend bi-monthly Curator Meetings at Rosyth * Define annual objectives, and complete monthly progress reports * Identify problems/enhancements to RPC(S) Library Service
