Sheringham/Dereham
To meet the challenge of providing over one billion litres of high quality drinking water every day to over 3.5 million people living in the driest region of the UK, our Water Services team operates 162 treatment works and looks after over 225 reservoirs, 36,000 kilometres of water mains, and 225 water towers. Attracting and retaining the right people is essential to our business.
This team-oriented position will see you joining our Treatment Works unit responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of our plant, pump and treatment systems. Operating machinery, monitoring processes and problem solving will all be part of this varied role, as well as keeping in compliance and adhering to company policies and procedures.
Ideally you will hold a City and Guilds in mechanical or mechanical/electrical engineering and/or a NVQ level 3 or equivalent in a relevant discipline. Experience from a process industry or engineering background would be advantageous. You’ll be looking for a hands-on position where you’ll feel right at home from day one. You’ll also enjoy teamwork and be able to demonstrate that you can use your own initiative to solve problems and prioritise, and we’ll provide full and ongoing training to help you to understand in detail the water treatment process.
You’ll need a flexible approach to working hours as you’ll be required to participate in a rotating stand/by rota in order to provide 24 hour operational service throughout the water treatment works. In return we offer a competitive salary and a range of excellent benefits including generous holiday allowance, pension scheme, training and development, protective work wear, a vehicle for company use and private health care.
Closing Date: 30th October 2009
