Assistant Accountant job with expanding business based in Exeter.
Due to a rapid rate of expansion our client requires an Assistant Accountant to support their accounts team on a permanent basis. Working closely with the Finance Director you will be responsible for a variety of accounting functions including producing the monthly management accounts. You will need to be able to prioritise your workload and work to strict deadlines. Experience of Sage Line 50 is essential when applying for this role. You are likely to be AAT qualified, or early stages of ACCA or CIMA, and study support will be considered for the right candidate. However, any candidate with appropriate experience will be considered.
The company is one in which decisions get taken quickly and where numerous opportunities exist for individuals who thrive on taking responsibility. Initially, we envisage the successful candidate assuming responsibility for the following:
Matching of invoices to purchase orders together with accurate input of invoices to Sage.
Managing the company’s weekly cash flow projections on a 3 month forward basis.
Logging daily sales revenue across all stores & inputting to Sage.
Completing daily bank reconciliations using Sage.
Preparing month end journals for input to management accounts.
Recording & processing staff expenses claims.
Managing a ‘deal desk’ of promotional offers run by suppliers from time to time.
Completing quarterly VAT returns.
Discretion will be applied in respect of the above skills & experience. Above all else, we are looking for a team player who is willing to get stuck-in and to learn new skills where necessary. In return we offer a competitive salary and a great place to work in!
