Position Description

The Nor Loch is a popular bar based at Waverley station, run by SSP UK. Working closely with the Unit Manager to run this busy food-serving bar operation, you will have a real impact on the business - serving customers on the move, directly affecting profit and loss, and motivating the team to deliver the highest standards of customer service. You will often work independently in this highly operational role and can maximise the opportunity to develop your skills from managing and motivating the team, placing stock orders, taking deliveries, driving sales, controlling costs and having a real impact on every aspect of running the unit. You will also help with the operational procedures as an integral support to the Bar Manager, running the site in their absence and playing a key role in its success. The bar operates from 7am to 11pm (12am Fri / Sat), so a range of shifts will be necessary covering different times of the day - breakfasts/middles/lates. (40 hrs p/wk, 5 out of 7 days).

Required Experience

You should ideally have experience in a licensed bar, restaurant or food retail environment and be used to working varied hours, with some early starts. The huge variation in shift hours means this role would best suit someone who lives locally - so you can improve other people's travels without spending too much time commuting yourself. More than anything, you should want to offer great customer service, appreciating the impact this has on the business. You will need previous experience of having accountability for the financial performance, quality of service, maintenance of set company standards and people management within your unit. Certification in Health & Safety and Food Hygiene alo preferred, as is a personal license (NCPLH).Due to this role involving the sale of Alcohol, applicants must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
