Position Description

Upper Crust is a busy retail catering unit based at Birmingham New Street station. Working closely with the Unit Manager to run the unit, you will have a real impact on the business - serving customers on the move, directly affecting profit and loss, and motivating the team to deliver the highest standards of service. You will often work independently in this highly operational role and can maximise the opportunity to develop your skills from managing and motivating the team, placing stock orders, taking deliveries and having a real impact on every aspect of running the unit. You will also help with the operational procedures as an integral support to the Unit Manager, running the site in their absence and playing a key role in its success. You will be working for the travel sector's world-leading foodservice business, so you will have the security that learning and development opportunities are available if you want to take your skills to the next level.

Required Experience

Every day is different here, so there's no time to ever get bored. By the time you have managed the rush hour, restocked the displays, prepared more products, carried out some Health and Safety checks, reviewed the sales, held a staff meeting etc., the day will almost be over. You should ideally have experience in a busy, branded food retail catering environment and be used to working varied hours, with some early starts. The huge variation in shift hours means this role would best suit someone who lives locally - so you can improve other peoples travels without spending too much time commuting yourself. More than anything, you should want to offer great customer service, appreciating the impact this has on the business. You will need previous experience having accountability for the financial performance, quality of service, maintenance of brand standards and people management within your unit. Certification in Health & Safety and Food Hygiene also preferred.

The salary for this role is between 16,000 - 18,000.
