Position Description
3 new SSP units will be part of the exciting redevelopment work taking place at Digbeth Coach Station. We are now looking for an experienced Assistant Manager to help run our Upper Crust unit - a busy, high turnover outlet, where no two days are ever alike. You will have input into controlling the P&L and responsibility for managing the team, whilst offering the very best in customer service. Reporting to the Multi-Unit Manager on site, this is a very hands-on role, and the majority of the time you will work independently, so need to be prepared to handle whatever challenges come your way. You will be able to maximise the opportunity to develop your skills from managing and motivating the team, driving sales, controlling costs, placing stock orders, taking deliveries, setting objectives, communicating targets, recruiting, managing performance, maintaining high brand standards and having a real impact on every aspect of running the unit.
Required Experience
You should ideally have management experience in a busy, branded food retail environment and be used to working varied hours, with some early starts. Bakery experience would be a bonus. The huge variation in shift hours means this role would best suit someone who lives locally - so you can improve other people's travels without spending too much time commuting yourself. More than anything, you should want to offer great customer service, appreciating the impact this has on the local business. Every day is different here, so there's no time to ever get bored. By the time you have managed the rush hour, prepared more baguettes, restocked the displays, carried out some Health and Safety checks, reviewed the sales, held a staff meeting etc., the day will almost be over. Your experience should include having full or partial accountability for the financial performance, quality of service, maintenance of set brand standards and development of the team within your unit.
