An Assistant Manager within the business would be given large amounts of autonomy to trade their stores as they see fit along with the Store Manager.
Visual merchandising is given to the managers as you are expected to know your store, location, and customers well enough to know how best to lay out your floor.

There is a unique relationship between head office and the store teams as most people in head office have grown up on the shop floor and then progressed across. They still come out and spend time on the floor during busy spells and holiday times.
