The Role

A vacancy has arisen for an Assistant Surveyor working in North London. Their responsibilities are to assist the site and project surveyor in the development and implementation of all pre and post contract strategies, commercial functions and contract reporting. The role reports to the Site Surveyor and/or Project Surveyor.

Key Accountabilities include:

• Regularly monitoring progress of designated tasks and taking appropriate action in order to complete tasks thoroughly and on programme
• Developing an awareness of internal and customer objectives and drivers
• Demonstrating awareness of key project objectives and priorities and assisting in measurement and valuation, internal and external valuation, administration of contract records and preparation of subcontract and material orders
• Actively seeking to understand the needs and expectations of the customer

One successful candidate will be working on £15 million new build social housing in North London.

Skills and Capabilities

This role requires:

• Knowledge of construction methods and technology
• Knowledge of measurement and valuation
• Knowledge of cost control
• Understanding of financial accounts and reports
• Understanding of administration of contract records
• Knowledge of sub contract materials orders and buying
• Ability to form relationships with supply chain, PQS, design team and work effectively with site management and the site team
• Basic commercial skills, basic understanding of maximising value recovery
• Must hold or be part way through obtaining an industry accredited degree
• Candidates do not need to have experience in new build or social housing
