Associate Director - Building Surveying - Core Business

The Company

My client is part of a large international group and is one of the largest multi disciplinary building consultancy Practices in the UK. The company has over 50 offices throughout the UK and overseas undertaking the full range of services in Architecture, Engineering, Project and Cost Management.

Within my clients core business team sits the Building Surveying team that delivers a wide variety of Building Surveying projects and programmes of work.

The core business team who a range of services for the City Council property portfolio:

*Civil & Structural Engineering
*Architecture
*Building surveying
*Space Planning
*Quantity Surveying
*Mechanical Building Services
*Electrical Building Services
*Vertical Transportation
*Energy & Sustainability
*Landscape Architecture

My client is responsible for the multi-disciplinary delivery of a variety of projects including:

*New schools.
*Decent Homes programmes of work.
*Better Neighbourhoods programmes of work.
*Maintenance and refurbishment of all the authority owned property stock including 90 schools.
*Maintenance and installation of new lifts throughout the property stock.
*Accommodation moves.
*Bridge bearing replacement on flyovers on main arterial routes into Southampton

As a successful FTSE 100 company my client puts great store upon the month by month success of each of its component businesses as well as their long term strategic planning. The successful applicant will play a major commercial and strategic role in the forecasting and reporting of the business success together with the development of future business plans.


Other duties will include the technical development of the team through the individual project leaders and the strategic technical planning to develop the scope of the team together with its ability to meet that expectation.

The successful applicant will be responsible to a profit centre manager who will also oversee other professional services for our projects team.

Experience

It is highly unlikely that the successful candidate will have less than 10 years Building Surveying experience within the industry, specifically within design related teams and have a deep commercial appreciation. They will be experienced in working at a managerial level with wide ranging and experienced teams and be able to demonstrate financial understanding with a proven track record of working with high profile "blue chip" clients.

It is imperative that this person is a natural team player, able to motivate and inspire their team, with a desire to produce the highest quality work and with the innovative ability to set new directions for the team when expansion is required.

The successful person must have a technical understanding of the varying expertise of the team and be driven in the need to develop "cutting edge" technology along with a passion for multi disciplinary integrated design solutions.

It will be necessary to be an excellent communicator in written, graphical and the spoken word with sufficient oratory ability to address his team, client or peer groups.


The successful candidate should ideally come from within commuting distance of Southampton and at least have a good knowledge of the regional marketplace. Candidates will be considered from other locations but there would need to be overriding reasons to do so.

Packages and Salary will be discussed previous to interview on a face to face basis you can expect the following below:

Basic 50-60k
Pension 5%
Car Allowance 10%
Additional optional health benefits
