We are looking to recruit a Business Focussed Project Manager to Provide leadership and direction to project teams, ensuring on time, budget and quality project management from decision making through delivery and into BAU. Projects vary in size, complexity and timeline. They can be large in scope, spanning multiple business areas and involving large teams (typically 25-30 at a time) with an associated budget of anywhere between £3.5m to £10m. The Project Manager would typically lead one of these at a time, however the Project Manager may also have multiple smaller-scope projects to manage simultaneously across different business functions.
Key Responsibilities
•Define, plan and deliver all assigned projects to agreed time, cost and scope/quality constraints
•Creates and executes project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
•Identifies resources needed and broker individual responsibilities
•Manages day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope including plans, issues, and change management
•Prepares for engagement reviews and quality assurance procedures
•Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately
•Conduct and lead project meetings and steering groups as necessary to ensure the project remains under control and delivers its objectives and benefits
•Track, manage and report project progress, risks and issues; take action as required to ensure a continued focus on overall project delivery
•Contribute/lead specific project scope building activity during the key annual financial and action planning phases
•Ensure that appropriate change management processes are used
•Lead, develop and motivate project teams, setting team and individual goals, providing ongoing coaching and mentoring, and ensuring the team gets the information and tools they need to effectively manage their performance.
Skills & Experience
•Significant and extensive experience (ideally external) in managing large, cross-departmental projects, including IT projects / projects within an IT framework
•Structured project management methodology experience/qualification desired (PMI / Prince2).
•Strong interpersonal skills – ability to influence at all levels / functions to achieve win-win outcomes and influence key decisions to ensure a positive outcome
•Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
•Strong focus on delivery, business objectives and the customer
•Good project management skills e.g. planning and prioritisation, communications, facilitation
•Good leadership skills with the ability to give clear direction
•Good operational management skills
•Innovative free thinker – finds better ways of executing projects
•Attention to detail and drive to ensure completion of tasks
•Tenacious approach – does not wilt in the face of setbacks, maintains positive approach
•Coaching and developing skills i.e. to enable support of prime movers
•Systematic approach to tasks
•Self motivated and self-aware - able to work under own initiative.
