World class Defence Organisation based in Bristol is currently looking to recruit a C++ / Java Software Engineer.
Please Note: you must have current SC (Secret Level) Security Clearance.
The contract is initially for 6 months (ongoing after).
The rate on offer is negotiable.
C++ / Java Software Engineer Job Description:
This vacancy is for a Software Engineer, capable of software development and testing for Defence applications.
Essential:
The Software Engineer must have current skills in ANSI C++ development for Unix platforms (Solaris and/or Linux). Knowledge of the Standard Template Library (STL) is assumed.
Desirable:
Recent experience in Java development (especially real-time - again, for Unix systems) and/or Geographical Information Systems (GIS) tools – especially LuciadMap - is desirable. Configuration management will be via Serena Dimensions (previously “PVCS”, “PCMS”), and hence experience with this tool is also relevant.
Useful:
The requirements and design will be managed via DOORS and the Rhapsody UML toolset. Familiarity with DDS and/or CORBA middleware, XML, code auto-generation and/or network protocols would also be of interest. Domain knowledge of UAVs, ground control stations, air traffic control (ATC) and/or C2 systems will be relevant.
