With a staff of 105,000 and an annual turnover around £100 bn. the Department for Work and Pensions plays a vital role in millions of people’s lives. Innovation has been key to our success in providing critical services, benefits, pensions and retirement planning advice to date and the DWP has already saved the taxpayer more than £1bn. through changes in benefit distribution.

We are one of the biggest users of IT in the country, and also operate a portfolio of government initiatives. The focus now is to deliver and improve services in a challenging economic environment. In order to achieve this, we are further enhancing our architectural leadership to ensure we have a best-in-class capability to take us forward.

This will be amongst the largest technical architecture assignments in Government, and as Chief Architect you will need to demonstrate the ability to innovatively turn strategy into deliverable solutions.

We are seeking a proven expert in enterprise architecture. The successful candidate will demonstrate their reputation as a thought leader and visionary capable of devising and delivering innovative solutions. You will also have the gravitas and influencing skills needed to ensure these solutions are accepted across the DWP, within the industry, other departments and at Ministerial level.

Leading a team of talented technical architects based in Warrington, the solutions you and your team devise will directly affect thousands of IT professionals in the department. A superlative communicator, you will be an inspiration to your people, and be able to bring them with you on a challenging and rewarding journey.

You will have experience in the generation of major enterprise architecture change across large, complex organisations in line with a corporate strategy, and will be experienced working to industry architecture frameworks such as TOGAF and Zachman.

In return we believe we are offering a unique opportunity to influence the future of the DWP and deliver benefits to society as a whole.
