This position is based in the St Andrews and Castle Douglas Schools, Dumfries & Galloway
This is a part time role of 20 hours per week
Job DescriptionResponsible for the proactive, professional and effective service delivery of cleaning to the client site, meeting service delivery quality levels, timescales and agreed budgets.To carry out daily duties which facilitate the smooth running of the school to agreed standards and service levels. To provide direct support to staff, students and members of the community in educational establishments with particular reference to customer care. To undertake duties relating to the operation of buildings and surrounding grounds, ensuring minimal disruption to the daily activities of establishment users.
RequirementsESSENTIAL:
- Previous experience in a supervisory role
- Previous cleaning experience
- Good organisation skills
- Awareness of Health & Safety requirements
- Must be able to communicate and work effectively with the Head of Establishment, other staff members, students and members of the public
- General handyman skills
- Good written and oral communication skill
- Good customer care
- Friendly, outgoing and flexible attitude
DESIRABLE:- Experience of working within a janitorial or similar operational environment would be desirable
- Experience of using IT
Responsibilities- Monitor and manage the control of labour, consumables and cleaning materials within given budgets
- Delivery of FM services to the client site ensuring delivery of effective, cost efficient services to agreed service levels
- Recruit, induct, coach and counsel subordinate staff to ensure they adopt and follow Amey practices and procedures
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction are achieved at the client site and feed back issues to Line Manager
- Ensure that all significant incidents are reported to your line manager in a timely manner
- Assist with the Amey Quensh programme utilising health, safety and environmental support where necessary
- Compliance with legal and statutory requirements, including health and safety, COSHH and employment law
- Communicate training requirements to line manager
- Carry out any other reasonable request by line manager
- Utilise materials, chemicals and machinery according to manufacturers and company guidelines
- Assist with the monitoring and control of labour, consumables, and cleaning materials within given budgets
- Deliver services within timescales set by line management
- Opening/ Closing of educational premises and grounds at prescribed times; ensuring that these are secure at the end of the working day. Co-operating with all appropriate personnel and agencies in maintaining the security of the premises at all times
- Whilst in attendance; patrol the school premises and associated grounds (as defined elsewhere); monitoring public areas and generally ensuring that security is maintained during the hours of opening
- Transport materials and equipment throughout the building as required
- Preparing rooms and halls for a range of uses, including setting out, removal and storage of furniture and equipment, erecting and dismantling stages, platforms etc.
- Undertaking reception duties; dealing with enquiries from members of the public, teaching, support staff and students regarding availability of lets, hours of opening etc.
- React to general repairs and maintenance duties as required or requested
- Communicate with Amey’s Helpdesk and effectively raise events as necessary; ensuring all details are given and recorded in accordance with the appropriate requirements to effectively enable the issue to be actioned
- Daily collection of litter from the school grounds is done as necessary or stipulated by the school
- Ensure that the external drains and drain covers are clear of leaves and litter at all times
- During the winter season clear and salt pathways as necessary to ensure the safety of personnel
- Adhere to and maintain to all company procedures, maintain records, preparation of paperwork, timesheets, monitoring overtime, distribution of payslips, and the monitoring of absenteeism
- Conceal and remove if possible all graffiti as soon as aware of reporting through the appropriate mechanism to enable further action to be taken within the specified time limits
- Carry out any other reasonable requests/duty made by your line manager
- Any other duties arising and reasonably pertaining to the post.
