Main
purpose of this role
To
promote the safe, effective, and economic prescribing of medicines by
the
advancement of ward/clinical pharmacy and medicines information
services
in Shepton Mallet Treatment Centre (SMTC). To work with
clinicians
to develop protocols ensuring best practice and cost effective
treatment.
To gain experience in all aspects of the day-to-day practice of
hospital
pharmacy and the running of the department. Work with pharmacy
technician to fully comply with HCC regulations.
Scope
of role
Communication and working relationships:
- Communicates with clinical members of SMTC’s multidisciplinary
teams on pharmaceutical issues. Information given may be complex, sensitive or contentious.
- Supervises the pharmacy technician in relation to the pharmacy department.
- May be required to undertake formal presentations to varied
clinic groups on pharmaceutical issues.
- Provision of medicines information to clinical staff and
patients
Key
Responsibilities
The post holder will be responsible for the safe,
effective and economic prescribing of medicines within the SMTC.
The position also entails the day to day
management of the on-site pharmacy and supervising the technicians to comply
with CQC regulations.
Requirements
- RPSGP Registered
- To have not worked in NHS for previous 6 months
- Pharmaceutical product knowledge
- Confident, polite and friendly manner
Preference
- Full and clean UK
drivers license
- Experience in autopedic, ENT, retail or hospital experience
- Dispensary experience
