The Company
Robert Half management resources is recruiting on behalf of our client, a major utilities company, for a Coal & freight risk analyst.
The Role Risk Controlling team is responsible for appropriate valuation of positions and provision of daily Risk and Performance Information to the Trading desks and Senior Management. This includes analysis and commentary on positions, risk measures and performance movements.Key Accountabilities:Produce value adding risk analysis to challenge and support trading strategies. Manage and deliver a number of varied projects and initiatives across the business.Provision of detailed analysis of risk measures, positions, P&L and trading strategies for traders, finance and Senior Management. Risk measurement and limit checking, including VaR and stress testing and validation of input parameters used in pricing models.Daily check and documentation of forward curves used for position valuation against available market data from Information Services, Journals, and Brokers.Preparation of position and P&L reports for the Coal and Freight Trading desks trading books on a daily and monthly basis.Monitoring and improving risk system interfacesSkills & characteristics:Energy Risk experience, knowledge of Risk Management techniques and their application in commodity markets A self-starter who will actively look to develop themselves and their role.Ability to communicate well with other departments.Education & Qualifications:Degree-level candidate - preferably with a Maths, Finance or Economics based qualification.Excellent Excel skills, and VBA, SQL, Business Objects knowledge preferred.Pprevious Risk and PnL Reporting Experience and understanding of Trading is an advantage
