Despite what you might think, join Barclays as a Collector and your job won't be to chase people for money. It will be to contact customers whose accounts have fallen into arrears, get to understand their situation and arrange repayment terms that protect their interests as well as our own. The difference being, it's as much about listening as it is about talking.

What you'll give our customers

You will be working in a large call centre in the debt / recovery / collections / credit control departments.Working with minimum supervision, you'll handle both inbound and outbound calls with customers in arrears to negotiate repayment terms that work for both of us. By gaining an understanding of each customer's circumstances, you'll be able to use your empathy and negotiation skills to find a way forward from potentially complex financial and emotional circumstances. The call centre collections department is a highly targeted and will expect you to want to work to targets and over achieve on these.

What you'll need

You will need recent customer service contact centre work experience gained in a high volume call centre environment and it is essential that you have an excellent telephone manner. Negotiation skills and superb interpersonal skills are also a must so you can quickly build a rapport with customers and gain their trust. Previous experience in Financial Services Industry and in particular of Arrears Collections or knowledge of secured lending would be desirable. 

You will be working a rotating shift pattern between the hours of 8am and 9:00pm Monday to Friday and 8am and 6pm on Saturday/Sunday, 35 hours per week in total.
