Job Title - Team Leader
Location - Manchester
Salary and Benefits - Up to £31,000 plus excellent benefit package
Work Pattern - Flexible hours, 35 per week, covering 8am to 6pm.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Will be managing a team of underwriters.
Overview of the roleReporting into the Customer Services Manager, the Team Leader will be responsible for leading the underwriting team through a crucial period of change within the business unit. The Team Leader will provide proactive leadership and be able to challenge and improve upon current business practices. The Team Leader will provide day to day management of the underwriting team and will ensure that each team member is engaged and enthused to carry out their role to the best of their ability.
Key Responsibilities
Be able to challenge, recommend and implement more effective ways of working within the team.
To manage the team through periods of change, ensuring that service levels are kept at the departmental and company standard.
Ensure the efficient running of the team and effective handling of work within the team; maintaining departmental and company standards, customer service standards and effectively contributing to the achievement of departmental goals.
Manage the motivation, development and performance of staff to ensure the delivery of a high standard and efficient service.
Handle a variety of the technical work of the team, particularly more complex cases (including complaint handling) to the required standard.
Maintain quality control of department standards within the team, identifying, implementing and participating in coaching and training where necessary and contributing to the revision of departmental policies and procedures.
Provide technical advice, training, information and reporting to colleagues and management.
Act as an expert point of referral for negotiation and service for external customers in order to achieve high standards of service and optimum business value in line with departmental goals.
Qualifications and Previous Experience required
Must be able to demonstrate leading teams through periods change.
Significant experience in leading people, with experience of coaching and developing others.
Experience of working within commercial insurance.
Be able to demonstrate and have a good understanding of technical underwriting.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Positive, enthusiastic, pro-active with a can-do attitude
Other knowledge/ Special aptitudes required
This role is for an experienced Team Leader who has a sound underwriting background. It will be a key role in motivating the team and ensuring the success of the department.
