Do you have the ability to deal with practical issues as well as policy matters?Are you able to analyse and reach decisions on complex and sensitive issues including issues that will have a long term effect on our client?Can you work as part of a congenial but intellectually rigorous team?Can you carry credibility with both the public and the profession?Do you have an interest in the justice system?
Add some experience and knowledge of a wide variety of areas of relevance to the law, regulatory matters and service users plus an awareness of diversity issues for consumers and the profession and you could be just the person.
You should also be committed to the “Nolan” principles of public life.
Our client is seeking applications for:
• Lay vice-chair and barrister vice-chair for the Complaints Committee;
Barrister members for the following committees:
• Complaints, Education and Training, Qualifications, Standards.
Lay members for the following committees:
• Education and Training, Complaints.
Senior Academic members for the Education and Training Committee.
The Board’s committees are an integral part of how the Board gets its work done. The Committees call for a variety of skills and interests. This is an ideal opportunity to make a genuine contribution to the regulation of barristers and the public interest in general.
Appointments will be for a period of up to three years with the possibility of renewal.
Meetings will take place in London, but some travel may be necessary.
