Controls Project Manager
Location: Birmingham
Purpose of Role: To provide co-ordination and management of complex control systems projects; within cost and time scale constraints for different industries, especially Automotive, Baggage handling and Materials handling projects, whilst ensuring the customers expectations are fully met.
Reporting to: Operations Director
Principal Accountabilities:
Main Job Objectives
- To maintain good relationships with all external customers, and
internal team, through provision of a high quality service.
- To maintain the company`s image as a top quality, professional
company, by adopting an honest, professional and attentive
approach.
Specific Responsibilities – Project Management
- To develop functional design specifications.
- To ensure compliance with relevant standards.
- To organise regular project reviews
- To manage budgets and control project expenditure
- To generate quotations, specifications and manage customer
change order requests
- To negotiate customer additional costs with customers
- To ensure delivery and timing milestones are met
- To raise purchase requests for non-product items
General Responsibilities
- Liaise with Project Sales and Technical Engineers during project
phase.
- Liaise with Customer and sub-contractors during order execution
phase.
- Liaise with purchase departments.
- To maintain and use wherever possible, standard product
information for the execution of orders.
- To innovate wherever possible to improve our delivered product to
the end customer (e.g. reduced price, reduced time-scale,
improved functionality).
- To maintain and improve upon personal skills related to the
position, through experience and training.
- To comply with the company policy as defined in the Staff
Handbook, Safety Manual, and Quality Assurance Manual.
- Other duties as required.
Knowledge & Experience Required:
- Desirable: HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering and/or educated to
degree level in a relevant discipline.
- All applicants must have previous industrial controls experience.
Beneficial to have held a similar role.
- Knowledge of industrial control system principles and standard
approaches
