My client is an established National Law Firm with offices in Birmingham City Centre. Due to expansion and heightened demand they are currently recruiting for 2 Costs draftperson roles and are looking for experienced candidates from within the Legal Sector.
The team:
The Costs Unit are part of the Injury Risk team who act on behalf of all the major insurers, dealing with pre-litigation and post-litigation claims for damages and costs. Insurers have recognised the need for their panel firms to have a specialist Costs Unit. The Costs Unit comprises of several teams which specialise in specific areas of costs. Members of the Costs Unit act for one or two insurance clients, with a focus upon driving through the client's costs strategy and building and strengthening client relationships. This allows the Costs Unit overall to build strong links and establish good rapport with the clients and claims handlers for whom they act. It ensures that the Costs Unit understand the clients businesses, meet and exceed their expectations.
Core Responsibilities
- thin this role you will have the responsibility for running your own case load, setting strategy on these and negotiating settlement/running to assessment.
- As a member of a busy team you will build relationships with internal client contacts at all levels and contribute to knowledge sharing within the Costs Unit.
- You will conduct work in line with client protocols, exceeding Cost Unit benchmarks and providing timely and accurate management information and billing.
- You will be able to progress to have more responsibility in running more complex and higher value cases, the timescale for which will be dependant upon your own performance and career goals.
Essential Skills:
-You will be an experienced Costs Draftsperson with knowledge and previous experience in handling costs recovery claims, including bill drafting.
- The ideal candidate will need to be client focused with an ability to build strong relationships with internal clients and third party contacts at all levels.
- Confident communicator and negotiator you will be quality and customer service orientated with the ability to work on your own initiative as well as within a team.
- You will need to have the ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure, dealing confidently with changing and conflicting priorities. you'll also need to be flexible with an ability to adapt to rapid change, both internally and in the context of clients' businesses.
