My Client currently have a vacancy for a Senior Design Manager capable of managing the design process on a £90m project for the construction of four schools. The role includes working as part of an integrated team which includes, the Site Team, Clients (Local Authority & Individual Schools), Consultants, Planners, Building Controlect.
The individual will report to the Head of Design & Build and be responsible for gaining the required design information on time and to the relevant standard to ensure that the project is delivered on time, to the required quality, to meet the client's aspirations regarding facities and cost, whilst maintaining our safety, health and environmental objectives. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, willing to learn, have considerable energy and be assertive. They have a proven track record of developing and training our staff to a high standard in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
Check that Drawings and Specifications meet building regulations,
Health & Safety issues are considered during Construction and Maintenance of the Building.
Ensure that the design team produce economic and buildable details.
Determine design risks and the type and extent of any additional inputs required.
Report on progress, identify problems encountered and any variations to project both internally and externally.
Dealing with all Design related correspondence on the project with reference to the Design Manager for guidance.
Review design with design team to identify opportunities for innovation and value engineering.
Appoint and co-ordinate technical consultants during the tender and contract period.
Carry out CDM Audits to ensure that consultants are designing in accordance with CDM.
Manage the design production information for tender.
Financial Reporting In conjunction with the Project Manager and QS to develop a design that remains within our agreed cost plan.
