As a result of continued growth, Northern Foods are now looking to recruit a talented and innovative Development Chef.
The role:
- To develop great food to agreed brand values and financial hurdle rates.
- To work with the business unit teams to ensure the delivery quality and innovation that consumers want to buy again and again.
- To coordinate this approach in line with “Grow Northern” and the “Less is More” principles.
- To understand the customer brief and implications for the business – including the hurdle rates for the category.
- To understand customer brand values to enable effective translation into a product proposition.
- To create all aspects of the product concept i.e. product and packaging.
- Competitor monitoring through benchmarking, working with insight other research methods.
- Continuously working hand in hand with the Factory teams, driving quality and consistency.

Job Requirements:Essential criteria:
- Product development – responding to proposals in positive and effective manner point
- Excellent culinary skills and passion for food.
- Understanding of research mechanisms in order reinforce product proposition.
- Financial understanding of KPI for development projects.
- Influencing and communication skills - Ability to organise and present internal and external product reviews.
- Planning & priority setting.
- In depth understanding of product costing to drive margin.
