The objective of this role is establish an effective sales and business development function that will increase revenue through sales of a new and innovative social media white label platform. You will build a network of partner agencies, as well as liaise with those already on board, to sell the platform on to their clients. You will also approach client brands direct but building the partner network is the priority.
Through direct sales, relationship building, innovative marketing and PR you will target all those interested in utilising social media; including but not limited to client services directors, account directors and planners in digital agencies and heads of digital, eCommerce and online marketing within brands. As such you will need to be extremely well connected throughout the digital industry and have a network of contact in digital agencies.
You will be supported by a marketing executive who will develop sales leads through branding and PR, developing online and offline marketing campaigns, organizing industry networking events and exhibitions.
You will become the industry face of the company attending the events, and networking throughout the sector. You will take responsibility for the complete sales lifecycle, qualifying leads to understand a customers needs before developing them into meetings, bids, pitches, and proposals. At this contact stage you will present the key features of the product (using internal pre sales technical resource where appropriate), highlight its USP’s and illustrate how social media can benefit brands online marketing and social media strategy. Key to this will be a deep understanding of the product and knowledge of the competitive marketplace.
You will negotiate sales deals and agree partnership arrangements. When a platform is purchased you will work with the client’s services director on a programme of implementation before handing the account over.
In order to identify companies and senior level individuals to approach you should have experience of business development research tools such as linkedin, be able to manage a database of prospect contacts and devise a communication plan that will develop relationships with prospects to keep your platform at the forefront of their minds for when a social media is considered.
To be effective you must have a resilient and creative approach to direct sales. You will be motivated by results and be able to manage a range of activities and tasks at any one time. You should have excellent verbal and written presentation skills and we able to persuade and influence purchasing decisions. You will be creative in use of social media to sell the brand and also be able to produce sales collateral and winning pitches to secure business.
You will be well connected with key players in digital agencies either as a digital advertising sales account manager, white label or product supplier. Alternatively you may work for a digital agency and have a range of contacts with direct clients. Whatever your background it should be selling within the digital sector.
This role requires a self starter who will be happy working under their own steam with minimal input or supervision from others. You will be expected to deliver tangible results with transparency of your activity and sales pipeline to senior management. This is a pivotal role in the business and could lead to a more strategic director role selling other digital products. This role comes with an achievable bonus and the potential for share options.
