An independent, not for profit specialist organisation based in the East Midlands is seeking to appoint a Director of Research and Evaluation to lead on winning research and evaluation contracts in the employment and skills sector.
Being responsible for developing the company's expertise and profile together with the delivery of projects on a daily basis the everyday duties include:
- Winning new business, this is the key element to the role and usually goes through tendering but also using existing networks and repeat business
- Leading on the design, development and delivery of research projects
- Lending expertise in research and analysis to the projects, predominantly in the design and reporting stage
- Managing and providing leadership to a team of Senior Managers and analysts in respect to business development and project delivery
- Promoting the profile of the organisation looking to expand the existing market share
The successful candidate will have:
- A background in a consultancy background with knowledge of how the public sector functions
- Excellent business development skills and an ability to write tenders and win business
- A masters in research or the equivalent and have strong research skills both qualitative and quantitative
- Proven experience of managing small to medium sized projects from inception to completion
- Strong oral and written skills in particular the ability to write up research reports and communicate findings to a wide range of stakeholders
- An understanding of employment and skills policy
- Line management experience
