Reporting in to the Head of eCommerce, this new role is responsible for the design and delivery of this business’s online customer recruitment and retention strategy, across multiple websites/propositions.This will include:-
Online Marketing Strategy (Recruitment and Retention)
- Working within the eCommerce five year strategy, develop the online recruitment and retention strategy to successfully attract, retain and maximise spend from the online customers across all websites/propositions.
- Implementing online recruitment and retention strategy, working with your team(s) to successfully delivery key activities.
- Comprehensively reviewing existing recruitment and retention practices, and proposing strategic change to increase customer acquisition, return on advertising spend, conversion, basket value and customer retention.
Campaign and Budget Management
- End to end management of online marketing campaigns including campaign design, execution, analysis and reporting (for example, measuring ROI/ROAS against campaign performance)
- Managing online marketing budget, ensuring effective investment and return. Regularly reviewing spend and outcomes, amending strategy accordingly.
Competitor Analysis and Third Party Relationships
- Managing relationships witha number of existing external suppliers (eg software and service providers) – agreeing clear performance indicators/levels, service level agreements, actively monitoring performance against these and reviewing relationships as appropriate.
- Investigating new innovations and products - leveraging technology and third-party products/relationships to improve customer recruitment and retention.
- Regularly review competitor and market activity, identifying potential trends and opportunities.
Reporting
- Defining reporting strategy and metrics for online customer acquisition and retention, reviewing existing processes and proposing any changes to data/metrics captured.
- Producing predictive reporting and analytics, on a weekly, monthly and annual basis across a number of key indicators (eg acquisition by channel, ROAS)
Web Development
- Working closely with eCommerce colleagues to deliver cross-departmental strategy and objectives, ensuring that all activity is effectively integrated
- Working closely with colleagues in Marketing, Buying and Supply Chain to successfully deliver inter-departmental activity, ensuring that activity is effectively aligned and integrated to deliver commercial objectives
- Inputting into our web development strategy including the development of new sites and online propositions. Developing bespoke recruitment and retention strategies for new websites and propositions as required.
- Using your knowledge, skills and experience to coach and develop the technical knowledge and skills of others within the eCommerce and other departments
Team Management
- Successfully managing a team including setting clear objectives and performance expectations, monitoring and reviewing progress, supporting performance as required, developing the technical and managerial expertise of your direct reports.
- Leading and motivating your team to deliver exceptional performance
- Developing your team members to fulfil their individual capability and potential and to support their individual personal and career development
- Supporting team members in dealing with any escalated issues and problems
Skills, knowledge, experience required:-
- Prior senior management experience within eCommerce is essential as is significant experience in managing customer acquisition and retention strategy and campaigns (search, PPC, affiliates, comparison, direct to URL, email)
- Prior experience within a multi-channel and/or multi-proposition environment is highly desirable
- Proven and successful track record in delivering acquisition and retention is essential.We’re looking for someone who, in previous roles, has made a significant improvement to key measures including traffic and return on investment.
- Prior team management experience is essential – we’re looking for someone who has proven that they can lead others effectively to deliver great results, and who can support and develop less experienced members of staff.
- Prior budget management experience is highly desirable.
- Experience in sourcing and managing third party relationships is essential – we’re looking for someone with strong interpersonal, negotiating and influencing skills.
- Significant technical knowledge of eCommerce and online marketing strategy is essential.Experience and high level of proficiency in Excel, Google Adware, Google Analytics, Coremetrics, Database software (particularly email management software) is essential.
