Our client is
the leading education services provider offering information, communications
and, more recently, recruitment services to the educational sectorfor four
decades.
They produce the dominant weekly newspaper to the
teaching profession as well as organising conferences and events and providing
information and consultancy services.
They are a leading supplier of recruitment
services at the senior level on a permanent basis, placing head teachers and
heads of department but not getting involved in short term supply teaching
positions. On the recruitment front they offer a level of services from a
generic‘toolkit’ through planned advertised campaignsto a £25,000 executive
search function.
They are looking to recruit a Consultant/ Business
Developer to expand on existing business within the Further Education sector.
The role will be to contact all Further Education colleges and institutions as
well at Head or Principal level as well as liaise with Local Authorities,
Boards of Governors and the Department of Education if necessary and it is
absolutely essential that the successful candidate will have a thorough
understanding of the workings of the educational sector.
The position requires a delicate balance between
strong sales skills and diplomacy. It will require the selling what can be an
expensive service to decision makers that may not be commercially astute which
can make it hard to close the deal. However of equal importance is the
integrity and ethics to always sell the right product to the client even where
the right product is the least expensive option. The client has taken nearly
forty years to build a reputation beyond reproach and that will always come
ahead of short term revenue.
This position is primarily one of speaking to the
clients, assessing their requirements, and designing the appropriate solution.
It is not one that requires writing advertising copy, mainstream interviewing
and CV screening. There is a fantastic support team in place that will pick up
and deliver on each assignment bought on board. It is first and foremost one of
business generation and so the successful candidate could come from the
recruitment field, from a recruitment advertising agency background or from one
selling technology or educational services to schools and colleges. The most
important qualities are a thorough knowledge of how the education sector works
and the credibility and gravitas to deal with senior decision makers.
The role has high expectations but offers in
return a generous basic salary of between £75,000 and £85,000 and an uncapped
commission rate of 30% of target.
This is a fantastic role in a genuinely world
leading company and one with the unusual combination of ethical satisfaction and
substantial earning potential.
