Electrical Maintenance Engineer

Our client is an international leader in the protective coating industry. They currently have a vacancy in their Maintenance Department for an Electrical Maintenance Engineer. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the role is to provide an immediate response to all breakdowns or imminent failures and to undertake all planned and predictive maintenance as per the Datastream MP2 maintenance task scheduler.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide rapid response to all breakdowns or imminent failures that could affect production or quality
  • Ensure compliance to TS16949
  • Use the MP2 system for analysis, scheduling of planned maintenance, predictive maintenance, cost monitoring, spares management and reports
  • Be proactive, make, maintain and keep spares available on the shelf ready for use.
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are registered and tested as per PAT, PV, LEV and LOLER regulations
  • Actively participate in TPM plans to meet the company’s targets
  • Monitor all activities and take part in continuously improving and reviewing any improvement ideas or cost reductions
  • Work the hours required by the needs of the business to cover production, training, projects and planned and unplanned absence
  • Use appropriate tools and equipment in performance of the maintenance duties
  • Work with the lab personnel to maintain process control
  • Contribute to team members on-the-job training and orientation

Health and Safety Responsibilities:

  • Work with the H&S team to ensure all tasks have robust Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work in place, together with permits to work and Lock Out Tag Out
  • Always work in a safe manner ensuring the H&S procedures, LOTO and Risk Assessments are adhered
  • Working in accordance with current Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Reporting defective equipment and dangerous situations.
  • Using safety equipment provided
  • Avoiding horseplay that could result in injury
  • Complying with management requests and instructions
  • Not using defective equipment
  • Not misusing equipment
  • Not damaging equipment
  • Exercising reasonable care towards yourself and others
  • At no point undertaking tasks that you are not trained for
  • Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment as required

Education and Experience:

  • Multi skilled Maintenance Engineer
  • City & Guilds 236 1+2 Qualified
  • City & Guilds qualified in PLC's
  • 16th + Edition qualified
  • Certificate in Electro Mechanical Engineering and/or
  • Certified Electrician and/or
  • Certificate in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience in a production environment
  • Experience in General and Mechanical Maintenance
  • Knowledge of 3 phase motors
  • Knowledge of automated plants
  • Knowledge of HV and LV electrical distribution systems
  • Knowledge of process controls including temperature, pressures, motor currents, gas burners, motor drives, or any other devices that can be used in conjunction with PLC or SCADA systems
  • Understanding of invertors
  • PAT testing (adventageous)
  • Test/Inspection (adventageous)
  • Management of LOLER equipment
  • Good diagnostic and analytical skills

Hours of Work:

The facility operates between the hours of 6am – 6pm. This position will require you to work 40 hours per week within these hours, generally 6am -2pm or 10am-6pm with overtime available.
