Manufacturing plant on the outskirts of Nottingham, looking to recruit an experience and forward thinking Engineering Manager. The role will involve managing and mentoring a small engineering team consisting of designers, tooling engineers and machinists.
Applicants need have a strong design background with a knowledge of tooling (press metal/forming environment). Previous experience of light-duty mechanical assembly is also desirable.
Essential Skills;
- Design of deep-drawing/pressing/forming tools
- New Product Introduction – planning and achievement of plan
- CAD/CAM
- Autocad2D/3D (Inventor/ Edgecam)
- Control of the manufacture or purchasing of production tooling (including managing contractors)
Desirable Skills;
Work shop and Engineering applications
- Knowledge of CNC milling machine programming/setting/operating on small batch quantities
- Ensuring production tooling is capable of meeting quality and output standards
- Metal fabrication– punching/bending/spot-welding/ MIG/TIG welding
- Designing/implementing electro/mechanical process automation
Management Environment
- Process improvements – lean environment – experience of lean management methods
- Provision of advice to sales team and production team on processes for the manufacturing and development of products
- Tool management and organisation and control
Applicants should hold a technical qualification in engineering, production or manufacturing (HNC minimum) and are likely to have a mechanical engineering apprenticeship or training.
