Essential:
• Knowledge of a variety of cover placement procedures, methods and techniques required.
• Knowledge of the appropriate classes of business with reference to appropriate experts when the cover falls outside their own experience.
• An understanding of FSA regulations and guidelines as applied to the type of client being dealt with.
• A knowledge of general insurance and underlying legal principles.
Essential:
• Educated to 'O' Level or G.C.S.E standard (ideally A to C, including Maths and English).

Job Holder:
Position In Organisation:
• Reports to Department Manager and Local Management.
• Liaises with clients, insurers, Account Handlers/Administrators (including Claims), Account Executives, Broking Managers, Local Management and others where appropriate.
Overall Objective of Job:
To provide an efficient, high quality added value, day to day service, in order to retain a portfolio of clients. To identify and refer any new or existing profitable business development/growth opportunities.
Dimensions and Limits of Authority:
• Has specific responsibility for service to their allocated clients and for the performance of procedures, which if not fulfilled may have a serious impact. Work may be either semi-routine/reactive or require discretion, judgement and some pro-activity.
• No direct management responsibility for others.
• May be required to give training and guidance.
• Frequent contacts internally and externally-much of which require influencing skills to be used
• Discuss and agree appropriate markets to be approached for terms to meet client requirements.
• Organise and manage their own time in accordance with procedures in order to meet client requirements and timescales.
• Consistent high level of quality required, with major peaks of pressure and the need to adhere to minimum performance targets.
• Work requires some discretion and judgement. Knowledge of a variety of procedures, methods and techniques required.
• Work within specified Delegated Authority underwriting limits
Duties and Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide day-to-day service to meet client requests and requirements in order to retain existing allocated clients, working at moderate or high degrees of pressure according to targets and workload.
2. Will exercise considerable discretion and independence under general guidance but refer to higher levels when required.
3. Produce fact-finding documents or supporting documentation to assist the periodic customer review process.
4. Identify additional opportunities for profitable growth by recognising client exposures and recommending cover enhancements.
5. Negotiation of competitive terms with the product/service providers in order to satisfy client requirements.
6. Handling invoicing of all premiums due including effective credit control, where necessary.
7. Check all client documentation for accuracy prior to issue to the client.
8. To take and action instructions relating to the provision of cover.
9. To ensure all communications are accurately recorded against client records.
10. Ensure company procedures are followed, in order to adhere with both quality standards and compliance regulation, in accordance with their authority.
11. Carry out client visits as and when necessary
In addition, the jobholder may be required to perform other duties assigned by their Line Manager, as required by the needs of the business.
Knowledge and Experience Required:
Desirable:
• Extensive knowledge of all company specific procedures (essential for existing employee).
• Knowledge of the insurance markets available.
• Appropriate experience of commercial or personal insurance.
Qualifications Required:
Desirable:
• To have achieved or be studying towards Certificate in Insurance/FPC and/or Diploma in Insurance/FPC.
• Educated to A-level or equivalent.
