Audit General Practice

The Role
Working closely with both senior and junior management, your role will be to manage, plan and lead your assigned portfolio of audit clients. You will have good audit knowledge with an all round experience of practise work
Principal Duties
- Managing key client relationships ensuring queries are dealt with and deadlines met.
- Planning and managing the audit process including resources, carrying out briefings and review meetings.
- Business development including cross selling of services and attending networking events.
- Managing and motivating a team of staff, delegating where appropriate.
- Attending relevant internal meetings and professional development activities.
- Providing feedback on the work on less experienced staff and contributing to the appraisal process.
- Coaching and developing less experienced staff.
- Supervising less experienced staff whilst on assignment.
- Carry out ad hoc assignments as requested.
Key Experience/Skills
Essential:
- Investment fund experience
- Experience of auditing valuations prepared under IPEVCV guidelines
- Private equity or listed funds experience (including VCTs)
- Familiarity with the FSA handbook and CASS rules
- Managing a portfolio with a tight turnaround (3 weeks from audit start to finish)
- Drafting reports to listed company boards and ISA 260 letters
- Developing staff to support financial services development
- Assisting in the delivery of training for the sector
- Assisting in business development activities including tenders and drafting material mailshots etc
Desirable:
- Experience of auditing investment firms and reporting to the FSA
Person Specification
- Able to deal with tight deadlines and being under pressure
- Be a supportive team member and provide guidance and training
- Client focused and commercially aware, able to identify areas of risk.
- The successful candidate will have a confident manner, an enthusiastic approach and demonstrate commercial awareness.
- Attention to detail and accuracy is necessary and an essential part of the role.
- Good interpersonal, communication skills including letter/ report writing and telephone skills.
- Must be computer literate with experience of IT packages including MS Excel, Word.
- Able to work either independently or as part of a team.
- The candidate must have the ability to deal with a variety of cases in a methodical manner.
Education/Qualifications
- Fully qualified accountant - ACA/CA
