My client is one of the leading contractors within the Middle East and North African regions. They currently have an urgent requirement for a Field Engineering Manager on a grass root refinery project that encompasses the construction of all disciplines such as civil works, process buildings, structural steel erection, equipment erection, piping fabrication and erection, electrical instrumentation and all pre commissioning.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Project Manager - You will control project organization. The main responsibilities will be to manage, control and motivate the field engineering function in line with the Project's targets in accordance with contract requirements and project objectives for the benefit of the project including the coordination and management of involved engineering centers as applicable.
You will plan, control and co-ordinate all aspects of the Field Engineering function mainly piping, instrumentations, etco to ensure optimum mechanical/ electrical and construction efficiencies including as-built. Initially his role is to review the piping module and produce Spool drawings and test packs, later on site to implement site modifications, drawings revisions and produce as-built drawings.
Ensure effective interdisciplinary coordination in particular through weekly meetings with Client representatives. Take the necessary technical decisions in case of unresolved conflicts between disciplines. Control that the Field engineering team properly interfaces with other project members
Participate to Risk management for the Field engineering concerns ensuring that Field engineering activity is compliant with project milestones. Alert project management in case of unforeseen variation and suggests if needed mitigation measures. To support the contract management by initiating, collecting and consolidating the variation requests and change orders.
Education / Work Experience
1) University degree mechanical engineering.
2) Minimum 10 years experience in the Field engineering of oil and gas projects including refinery work
3) Experience on project execution in the Arabian Gulf countries is an advantage.
4) Piping design software knowledge and Computer literacy is required.
5) Languages are a plus.
6) Excellent communication skills
7) Proactive approach and ability to work to tight deadlines
