An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Financial Controller to join a successful organisation in County Durham on a permanent basis.
The successful applicant will report in to the Finance Director and be responsible for the accounts team on site.
Main Purpose of the Job :
Work pro-actively with other departments to sustain, control and improve the profitability of the business.
Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of all company financial statements.
Compliance with regulatory bodies.
Identify areas for improvement through analysis of trends and interrogation of results.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Continuous improvement:
Monitor and review key financial data to identify trends and enable operations management to take
appropriate and timely actions to deliver the required financial performance.
Drive cost reduction, through the understanding of lean tools and techniques.
Fully brief, coach, train and develop staff in line with Policy Deployment.
Build strong partnerships and influence the key players in the business.
Make recommendations and challenge the way our teams work in order to fully utilise working capital.
Review the performance of the business and liaise with management
Develop systems, procedures and processes which impact the profitability and sustainability of the business
Continuously improvement and review of systems processes, procedures and controls to improve the
ongoing efficiency and robustness of the finance function.
Project team leadership or involvement.
Routine tasks:
To ensure that all Company month end reporting is submitted in a complete, accurate and timely manner,
ensuring that variances are identified and acted upon by management on a timely basis.
Review all balance sheet control accounts on a monthly basis with emphasis on the underlying ledgers.
Monitor and review annual budgets and monthly forecasts.
Budgetary responsibility for accounts
Assisting with company annual profit plan in line with the group timetable
Processing of staff payroll and review of hourly paid payroll tasks
Preparation and submission of Year-end income tax returns and quarterly VAT returns. Liaison with
HMRC as appropriate.
Preparation of information for the year end statutory accounts and year end corporation tax returns. Liaison
with accountancy and taxation advisors
Manage the year end external audit timetable in accordance with the group timetable.
Monitoring and reporting of company cash flow.
Any other reasonable duties as required
Qualifications : Professional Accounting Qualification (ACCA, CIMA, AAT)
Or qualified by experience
