We are currently looking to recruit two Consultants into our Finance Effectiveness team in Financial Services (FS) Consulting. Within FS Consulting, Financial Effectiveness (FE) (Finance Transformation, Finance Shared Services, Corporate Performance Management) focuses on the agenda of the CFO and his/her team. FE projects cover a wide range of issues from designing and implementing finance shared service centres to streamlining operations to increase efficiency. Large scale finance transformation projects are increasingly sought, necessitating the need to work across other PwC specialisms, leveraging local and global expertise to deliver optimum solutions.

Within this context, we have high growth targets and part of the strategy to achieve this is to bring in experienced hires to help our clients meet the challenges they are facing in the FS environment.

We are looking for people with skills in Finance Shared Service Centres or Corporate Performance Management (planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting). If candidates can show skills in both areas then this will be highly valued.

Corporate Performance Management (CPM) skills and experience covers:

  • Understanding Performance Management frameworks.
  • Links to corporate strategy.
  • Planning, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Reporting (statutory, regulatory, management).
  • Links to remuneration.

Finance Shared Services skills and experience covers

  • Finance Target Operating Models.
  • FSSC Design and Build, both in-country and offshore experience is relevant.
  • Knowledge of sourcing options, for example Business Process Outsourcing.

Other more general skills we are looking for include

  • General consulting skills particularly around developing client relationships and business development.
  • Underlying finance technologies in CPM or FSSC.
  • An understanding of contemporary themes in Finance.
  • A track record of sales and delivery within a similar environment.

Within the field of Finance Effectiveness this is a Director level appointment whose responsibilities will be:

  • Building relationships with our key Financial Services clients.
  • Identifying client needs and proposing solutions to them.
  • Leading the delivery of projects.
  • Developing the careers of the teams working with and reporting to you.
  • Being part of the leadership team in the Finance Effectiveness practice.
  • Maintaining a consistently high and leading edge market profile.

The ideal candidate would be interested in progressing their career to the next level with an aim of becoming a candidate for partnership on a 2-3 year timescale.

The successful applicant must have

Experience within the financial services industry. Consulting experience of CPM and FSSC is essential, executing on CPM and FSSC projects from a client side would be seen as helpful Professional qualifications from recognised Institutes such as ICAEW, CIMA Excellent interpersonal skills & networking ability to develop and nurture contacts. Business acumen to identify client's real business needs which PwC can satisfy. First class delivery skills of large, complex projects. Solid and articulate report, proposal and article writing skills to communicate corporate viewpoints on breaking news and technical publications. A track record of coaching and developing team members.

Business Skills - Understanding our client's business and showing strong commercial acumen in the seeking out of opportunities and the winning of work.

Delivery Skills - The ability to use our industry and technical skills to better deliver practical solutions that are valued by the client.

Analytical Skills - Identifying and diagnosing client issues through rigorous analysis, rather than "selling" PwC solutions.

Individual, Social and Business Interaction - Flexible in using a range of influencing styles in order to build strong sustainable relationships, and demonstrating the firm's values.

Personal and Professional Development - Committed to seeking and acting on feedback and learning opportunities.
