Firmware/Embedded Software Engineers required. Development, test, IPMI, diagnostics firmware, system/device driver software, C, PL/M, Intel 80x86, Diagnostics, bootloader, PC BIOS, Embedded, VxWorks, QNX, RTOS, real-time, Windows/Linux/Unix device drivers/kernel, Hardware.
Firmware Engineers required for my client, a leading developer of high performance computing products based in East Anglia.
Duties will include over time:
- Working alongside hardware designers in different stages of development of products, including development of test software.
- Supporting technical support engineers when problems arise.
- Developing and maintaining PC BIOS, IPMI and diagnostics firmware.
- Design/development of system and device driver software.
- Porting/testing of operating systems on new hardware platforms.
- Design/development of operating system-based test and other software.
You will need an engineering degree or equivalent, as well as commercial experience involving some or all of the following:
- C, PL/M or other block-structured high-level languages, preferably for the Intel 80x86 family
- Diagnostics, bootloader or PC BIOS development
- Embedded real-time software development
- VxWorks, QNX or other real-time operating systems
- Windows or Linux/Unix device drivers or system (kernel level) software
- Hardware knowledge
- Good communication skills
