Food Technologist
Devizes, Wiltshire
£25,000 - £35,000 DOE Plus Pension, Life Assurance
As an established bakery business, our client originally served its own retail shops and a number of local customers. Fast forward to today, they work with a number of clients, notably Waitrose. An opportunity has now arisen for a Food Technologist to join their team.
For this key role our client is seeking someone with a food technology degree (or equivalent) and the ability to communicate with a range of people.
As a Food Technologist you'll be responsible writing customer and internal specifications (for Waitrose and M&S), and reviewing and updating company policies and procedures to comply with the BRC and customer requirements.
You will also help to build relationships with the NPD and production teams, ensuring seamless communication from NPD concept through to launch. Additionally, you will be a member of the HACCP team.
Your duties will include:
- Writing customer specifications and reviewing current internal specification systems
- Supporting the Technical Controller with day to day technical/quality issues, standards and systems
- Helping to drive and maintain product safety and quality
- Ensuring the company is up to date and compliant with current code of practices
- Ensuring all testing (shelf life, organoleptic, nutritional etc) on current products are compliant to BRC standards
- Carrying out audits of the quality systems and ensuring work instructions are up to date and relevant
To be considered for this position, you must have a degree (or equivalent) in food technology. You will also need to demonstrate good communication skills, a forward thinking approach and the ability to work on your own initiative.
Experience of using customer specifications systems will be an advantage.
