As a leading

opportunity has now arisen for a Foundation Learning Key Worker to join their
team.
In this role you will join the Foundation Learning Department
that’s responsible for maximising presence, participation and achievement of
young people and adults who show a lack of interest in education or progression.
As a Foundation Learning Key Worker, you will work with 14-16 year olds
who would be motivated by a different learning environment, as well as
unemployed adults who are looking to secure sustainable employment. This will
involve preparing, administering and delivering all aspects of the foundation
programme’s curriculum and framework, including assessing candidates.
Specifically, your role will involve delivering information advice and
guidance, mentoring, and training. This will involve:
- Supporting,
guiding and challenging designated learners in overcoming any possible obstacles
- Providing information, counselling, advice, guidance and mentoring on a
range of personal, social, vocational, educational issues
- Identifying
individual needs and carrying out assessments including Basic Skills
Assessments
- Building and managing relationships with partners, support
agencies, Connexions, Lancashire Young Peoples Services and school staff

Preparing, planning and delivering training programmes for Foundation
learners
- Developing a flexible and responsive curriculum covering personal,
vocational development, social development, employability skills etc
To
be considered for this position you must have experience of working with young
people and / or adults. This can be gained any of the following industries:
education, careers services, youth services, learning and training providers,
youth justice, voluntary and community work or social work.
You must also
have one of the following:
- A qualification at NVQ Level 3 or above (or
equivalent) and GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths
- Evidence of
working towards an NVQ Level 3 in a relevant area such as counselling, advice
& guidance, youth & community work, teaching, social work
As a
Foundation Learning Key Worker you should also have the ability to communicate
effectively with a range of audiences, active listening skills, and a highly
organised approach. A driving licence and own transport is also essential.
