We require a Geotechnical Engineer to provide expertise on a Tank farm and Pipeline Project based in Angola. Working in a multidisciplinary team of Engineers providing a professional design service to our clients, this is a great opportunity to gain additional and more technical exposure within an internationally renowned consultant.
Requirements
- Candidate should be M. Tech. / M.S. in Geotechnical & Foundation Engineering or equivalent.
- Should have minimum 10 years experience in Geotechnical Investigation & laboratory Test for Oil & Gas projects.
- Excellent communication and report writing skills and the ability to self-check and produce accurate work.
- Should have hand on experience to carry out detail Geotechnical investigation, Laboratory Testing and report for Tank Farm projects (especially for storage tank foundations, Earthen Dike, Cutting, Filing, Grading, Roads, storm water drainage, Pipe racks, Pumps & Compressor foundations and all associated Civil works).
- Preparation of geotechnical investigation reports with appropriate recommendations for foundations [Shallow foundations (Isolated foundations, Raft foundations etc.), Deep foundations (Pile foundations, Stone columns etc.,) and Ground improvements (Soil Replacement, Dynamic Compaction, etc)] for the respective structures (Storage Tanks, Buildings, Pumps, Compressor, Equipments and Sheds earthen dike etc.) based on the site data as well as requirements of the client.
- Describing the SPT soil samples and rock cores from the drilled boreholes. Sampling and testing the physical and chemical properties for the soil, rock and groundwater.
- Conducting Field Density tests on embankment, sub grade, sub base and base courses.
- Conducting Plate load Test on embankment and Storage Tank foundations, sub grade, sub base and base courses.
- Conducting Electrical Resistivity Test for soil.
- Testing of characterisation (Grain size analysis and Atterberg limits) and laboratory moisture-density characteristics (modified compaction) of soils.
- Testing of in-situ density and moisture content, field CBR at test pit locations. Should be well Conversant with international codes & standards such as ACI, ANSI, UBC or IBC, ASTM, BS & API 650.
- Knowing Portuguese Language would be an advantage.
Responsibilities
- Geotechnical Engineer shall report to company nominated Project Manager and will be responsible for all technical issues related to Geotechnical.
- Responsible for Establishment of material testing laboratory, monitoring the resources of manpower and laboratory equipment on site.
- Planning for mobilization of rig machines to sites as per plan. Visiting the sites at the time of field investigation.
- Responsible for all technical review of Geotechnical related to documents / drawings.
- The Geotechnical Engineer is responsible for co-ordination with interdisciplinary counterparts, EPC Contractor as well as vendors.
- Responsible for Review / Implementation and use of Quality Control Documents; Quality Manuals, Quality Plans, Procedures, Method Statements, Inspection and Test Plans.
- Responsible to supervise the Geotechnical work executed at site as per Project specifications and applicable International codes and standards to ensure these requirements are met with.
- Review and Approve project material certification and QC personnel.
- Supervise / Approve field inspection activities of EPC contractors and third party inspection agencies.
