Proactive Personnel are proud to be representing this global manufacturing business in their search for a HSE Manager to work at their facility in Chester.
THE HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGER
To work closely with managers and employees to ensure the continuing development and implementation of best practice health & safety, policies and procedures
KEY TASKS
·Promote the highest standards of health & safety, encouraging an attitude of safety awareness among all employees
·Advising and supporting line management on the implementation of policies and procedures
·Evaluation of the safety aspects of projects and changes in machinery and working practices
·Audit site practices and, in conjunction with line management investigate all accidents and ‘near misses’ with a view to eliminating future risk
·To ensure the safe operation of plant and safety of employees and visitors
·Ensure compliance with current UK and European health, safety and environment legislation
·Day to day H & S management of site
·The HSE Manager is responsible for ensuring that the Health, Safety and Environmental standards of the Manufacturing facility are maintained to UK and European legislation.
·This involves the job holder requiring little supervision and working on their own initiative.
·Responsible for the H&S and well being of all staff, contractors and visitors at all times when on site and must ensure compliance to H&S standards.
·Responsible for ensuring the site conforms to all legislative H&S monitoring and reporting requirements and as such requires a significant degree of decision making, judgement and planning.
·Responsible for the maintenance of all H&S and environmental equipment on site and is responsible for training end users in such.
·The job does not have financial responsibility and accountability.
·Responsibility to ensure all equipment and machinery is maintained to strict H&S standards.This involves a high degree of checks and audits to be carried out.
·Provide induction training and continuation training to staff, visitors and contractors.This may require training in specialist equipment
THE SUCCESSFUL HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGER
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 and application of OHSAS18001.
- Familiar with Industrial relations in a unionised environment.
- Experience of occupational health issues, in manufacturing.
- Must have practical knowledge and application of RIDDOR; COMAH; COSHH, CDM and other legislative requirements
- Be able to implement change management and deliver results to timescale and to standards
- Good communication skills, and be able to deal with individuals at all levels to include report writing, chairing meetings and giving training and advice.
- IT skills to include use of Microsoft Office products (excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook etc).
- Working knowledge of H&S IT management systems.
- A working knowledge of a heavy engineering environment would be preferable but not essential.

- Our client is offering a remuneration package of £30,000 - £35,000 with benefits.
