A leading International Centre in Shanghai is seeking to recruit experienced and qualified head teachers with strong leadership and managerial skills to help develop their A level and IGCSE centres in China. You will be responsible for the teaching quality of highly motivated and diligent Chinese students, maximizing their academic potential and preparing them for Western Universities.
A significant difference for teachers in this organisation is the quality of the student population. Word of mouth referrals and excellent academic results have resulted in a high demand for places. Last summer they had 1500 applicants and selected the top 330 for admission. These students are academically in the top two deciles and the majority are highly motivated to succeed. The students' level of commitment is evidenced by their hard work, dedication and superior academic results.
The Head teacher plays a key role in the Centre's development and will be responsible for the following duties:
-The leadership, good management and strategic direction of the school.
-The management of all school policies including student behaviour.
-Staff management, and to provide the provision of professional advice and guidance to colleagues.
-The management and development of the school curriculum to provide the best possible education for all students and to promote the centre's corporate image.
-Be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the school and for the use of resources made available.
-To work closely with the HR Director to ensure the hiring of high quality teaching staff.
-To promote the continuing professional development of all staff and to ensure that all staff has an annual review of their development needs.
-Along with your Chinese counterpart, working in partnership with parents, other professionals, agencies and schools.
Person Specification:
-Previous experience of large scale school leadership preferably in an international setting.
-Ability & experience in teaching relevant IGCSE and post 16 levels.
-An advanced degree with emphasis in education.
-Dynamic and creative decision maker.
-Results driven individual, able to bring out the best and inspire those around them.
-Good problem solver with the ability to keep a level head when things don't quite go according to plan.
-A demonstrated high level of commitment to teaching excellence.
-An understanding and commitment to being a team player.
-The role will also involve a minimum amount of teaching according to CIE subject specifications.
