Head of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering - Defence
Salary - £65,000 - £95,000 Dependant on Experience
My Client is a leading global defence engineering company conducting a wide variety of activities for the UK MOD and prime contractors across the wider UK and international defence communities.
Due to our continued success, the company is undergoing an exciting period of growth across many domains. As part of this growth strategy the Technical Operations group is moving the organisation more towards a functional organisation and therefore required a strong Engineering Manager to deliver mechanical design capability that meets the needs of the business.
Essential Experience
*Degree in Scientific or Engineering discipline; Chartered Engineer;
*Experience as Lead Mechanical/Electrical Engineer on major project; at least 10 years professional experience;
*A proactive team-builder who can motivate and lead by example;
*A skilled manager who can anticipate problems and plan to mitigate them;
*An able communicator in verbal, written and presentational forms;
*A Finisher - who delivers what he commits to do;
*Able to manage and work within agreed budgets;
*A strong organiser who gets the most out of his people by keeping them directed and focused;
*Deep understanding of the Development lifecycle, and of relevant tool sets;
Desirable Experience
*Experience across the development & manufacturing lifecycle resulting in the successful delivery a mechanical system
*Lean 6 Sigma techniques

The Head of Mechanical Engineering will be part of a new management team responsible for driving the engineering and technology vision and strategy to align with the business vision. The candidate will be expected to act as a change catalyst within the business driving functional and hence business excellence for mechanical engineering within my client.
