Due to continued expansion, this privately owned food manufacturer and global supplier are looking to recruit a Head of NPD whose remit will be to drive the business forward with regards to innovation, technical expertise and supplier relations. East Midlands, paying a competitive salary and generous package.
Due to continued expansion, this privately owned food manufacturer and supplier are looking to recruit a Head of NPD whose remit will be to drive the business forward with regards to innovation, technical expertise and supplier relations. East Midlands, paying a competitive salary and generous package.
This growing manufacturing business already supply several high profile retail clients, and are looking to expand this further with the introduction of a Head of NPD who will be an expert in catering for the customers' needs, fully utilizing the company's expansive product facilities and extensive supplier base.
With a background in confectionery, your key responsibilities will be:
- To undertake product and competitor research to ensure the company are at the forefront of innovation.
- To implement a range of products focused on short, medium and long term strategic objectives.
- To understand the needs of the customer and accommodate accordingly.
- To utilize fully the current factory facilities, and suggest bespoking alterations for certain products.
- To scrutinize cost of goods, and how to minimize these without compromising quality.
- To create new concept products, cost these out accordingly and assess the commercial viability.
- To manage the product development team.
To be the successful applicant, you must have proven experience in NPD management, particularly from within a chocolate or confectionery environment. Being an autonomous role reporting into the board, you must have strong communication skills and the ability to converse with stakeholders of all levels. You will also have heavy involvement with the company's customer base, and as such you must be an ambassadorial character with the ability to forge new relationships in a short period of time.
Technical expertise is a must, and as such, you must have the ability to be able to upscale a concept product to factory proportions and assess the viability of this. You will be commercially astute, with an impeccable knowledge of current food trends and the own label market.
You must have a Food Science degree or equivalent, with NPD management experience within chocolate, confectionery, ingredients or flavouring.
