My client is one of the leading contractors within the Middle East and North African regions. They currently have an urgent requirement for a Planning Manager to head a team on a grass root refinery project that encompasses the construction of all disciplines such as civil works, process buildings, structural steel erection, equipment erection, piping fabrication and erection, electrical instrumentation and all pre commissioning.
Job description and activities;
To supervise the development of the most appropriate method and sequence of construction operations for a particular project, in conjunction with the project director. The plan is to oversee the entire programme of work and must anticipate a contract's demands in terms of labour, materials, equipment and technical challenges. As well as ensuring that construction is completed safely to a high technical standard, the head of planning is also responsible for specifying the timing of the contract. Which is a major responsibility for timely completion.
Typical work activities include:
o selecting the appropriate techniques and sequence of events for a particular project;
o presenting schedules of work, often with visual aids such as bar charts and procedures diagrams;
o using specialist planning computer software, such as primavera.
o monitoring progress throughout the construction process and comparing this with the projected schedule of work;
o liaising with the site agent and surveyor throughout the process, making adjustments to projects as necessary;
o providing advice and support on the development of specific systems.
Requirements:
The successful candidate will have a degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management with at least 7-12yrs Planning experience on large projects within a Main Contracting environment. Candidates must also possess an in depth knowledge of Primavera planning software.
