Head of Operations is required for a new division of a global investment management business.
The project being developed provides a structure that links investment strategy and funding through ongoing monitoring of a scheme's funding level. The key features are: daily funding level monitoring combined with a dynamic, rules-based approach to locking in gains; an integrated liability hedging strategy; and mitigation of downside equity risk.
Summary:
The Head of Operations will be responsible for the daily operations and execution to ensure high levels of client service. This will involve managing a small operations team and taking responsibility for client take-ons, daily monitoring and rebalancing, and acting as a key point of contact for client and internal queries. They will also take ownership of process controls and compliance reporting.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Work with Architect (designs and maintains value proposition) to ensure "house views" on investment portfolio composition are reflected and updated at a client level
Develop a relationship with both internal and external parties so as to be a key point of contact
Maintain and enhance our reputation for clients' service through effective and continual inter-action with key clients, and co-ordination of all parties involved in the delivery of client services
Ensure client take on is expertly managed by the team
Manage responses to client queries, client reporting requests and provision of audit reporting in collaboration with the client managers
Monitor and manage the service quality from all internal parties
Ensure rules and triggers are monitored daily
Provide daily oversight, supervise transactional processes and streamline operational procedures where necessary
Maintain in-house applications
Manage and develop the exiting two operations specialists
Graduate/ graduate calibre with in depth operational experience in Pension Administration or Investment Management
Ability to think strategically and to drive projects forward
Strong organisational skills
Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with internal and external clients at all levels
A knowledge of fund structures, parties to the fund, pension administration and instrument types
Understanding of operational and reputation risks and the operational control environment required to manage these risks
Ability to work on own initiative within a small team in a challenging start up environment
Ability to lead, manage and develop a small team
