My client based in Berkshire is looking with immediate effect for a contract packaging engineer for a minimum of a 3 month contract until the end of the year.
Specialising in IC implementation within the semi conductor industry, the successful candidate should have:
As a basis : Laminate design rules + Assembly design rules (using wirebonding) exposure.
- Cohabitation constraints for application getting high speed interfaces like DDR, USB-HS, CSI or DSI with very sensitive signals like Audio or other analog inputs
- Fundamental electrical concepts such as transmission lines single or differential, reflection, crosstalk, impedance, power delivery.
- Guarantee critical interfaces such DDR will always work at speed without damaging the neighbourhood (Lead DDR simulations)
- Thermal / power consumption (locate areas where supply will be dissipated in order to check package how package construction could be improved)
- Silicon constraints:
- Working in collaboration with back-end designer to make sure Io ring is flexible enough to be wire bonded or die size can be increase without destroying the whole package
Understanding of voltage domain concept and propose optimised Io placement matching system requirements
Same understanding with supply to get lowest inductance for critical supply
PCB constraints
Ball out Matrix definition in relation with the PBC stack-up target
Ball placement in relation with its signal function
Power delivery definition matching decoupling strategy
- Test concept: make sure package is always testable ...whatever is die configuration and the interconnect
- Quality to make sure material used in the package BOM are all authorized by the targeted customer
